The Carignan that goes into this wine comes from vines planted in 1958, dry-farmed, bush-trained near Melozal. All of these characteristics provide us great acidity, high concentration and great tannins. The Carmenère comes from Piedra Lisa Vineyard of the historic Itata Valley, providing us, silky tannins, low acidity and deep dark color. This blend gets together the best of each variety.
Mala Fama, or ‘bad fame’, refers to the historically poor reputation of the Carignan and Carmenère grapes used to make it, both rarely more than bit-part ingredients in Bordeaux and Rhône blends of the past.
Aged for two years in French oak barrels, the unique blend brings together the best of both varieties, a heart-thumping bad romance Ask a question about this product Price per Unit (piece):
